Research Portfolio: Online Platform for distribution and short film festivals

I have done some research to find out where my short films can be distributed. There were many festivals that show short film such as;

• Raindance Film Festival *Oscar qualifying
• London Short Film Festival• Edinburgh International Film Festival
• London Short Film Festival
• Manchester International Film Festival
• Encounters International Short Film Festival *Oscar qualifying
• Leeds International Film Festival
• Aesthetica Film Festival

But one of the film festivals that I had researched was the London short film festival.

The London film festival shows many low budget short films so this will be good for my short film to be distributed.

2015 facts & figures

• Over 10,000 tickets sold
• 1500 UK and international submissions
• 94% of events sold to capacity
• Over 450 films screened

What they say

“The Best Short Film Festival in the World” – Guardian Guide

“Too good a party to miss” - Time Out

“A London bastion of cutting-edge short films and multimedia” - The Times

“Film fans who prefer multimedia thrills to multiplex fodder have flocked to this festival since its inception” - Metro

“Excellent film/music festival” - Critics Choice, Time Out

"This is a festival not afraid to take creative risks and nurture new talent, something rarely seen in this age of austerity and conformity." - i-D Magazine

"You could experience 20 things in the time it takes to watch The Hobbit. Take that Bilbo!" - Guardian Guide 2013

This is great for the distribution as there are over 10,000 tickets that have been sold. This means that the is a great amount of recognition my short film will get due to the fact there is a great amount of people that will attended this festival. There is a good chance that my short film will be submitted and it may get recognition for other film directors. This is also based in London so therefore this will be an eaiser commute.

Other forms of distribution is youytube. There are many low budget short films that have been distributed on youtube. Here are some the short films that have been released on youtube and as this is a worldwide platform people from all countries are able to watch the short film. This film has had over 4 million views this due to the fact because this is a multi platform that deals with distribution and nwe will not have to get it regulated as anyone is able to uploa anything onto youtube.
