Evaluating Ident's
The theme is about coming at you everyday. This is reflected in the way that the people used in the ident say everyday and also the music that is used. This is also shown when the letters are thrown at the person while standing there re enforcing coming at you everyday.
Another idea that I had had was to use still images to create a sense that a tea is being made by itself and due to the fact that the channel that we are branding (sky 1) is quiet and artistic channel by using still images I feel that this could be represented as an artistic way in which everyone experiences everyday life. Our theme is 'coming at you everyday' and everyday people tend to drink a cup of tea however I feel that this will make the audience confused due to the fact that

Task 1B- Tv Idents Purpose and Design
Task 1b: Design and Purpose of idents
Design: density of information; space and time; screen tempo; interaction with viewers; information-led; entertainment-led
Purpose: identity; branding; marketing; packaging and re-packaging; scheduling; segmentation within scheduling
Channel 4 : Tokyo

Idents
The reason for idents is so that T.V channels find a way to create an identy for their channel. They use the logo for their channel to promote it for instance channel 4's logo is a big 4.Ident's are short 'film's' that last up to 30 seconds. TV channels are shown either before or after and show or an advert. This is so that people are able to know what they are watching. There are two ways in which idents are used; the first is animation, animation can relate to a younger target audience due to the fact that it can be much more playful and camera footage can relate for an older target audience.
Channel 4 : Tokyo
The first ident that I would be looking at is channel 4, Channel 4's first ident was created in 1982. This ident is a short and fast paced. In this ident based in Tokyo this is to create the idea that the channel is diverse. The programmes that are shown are not just from England but other countries such as Tokyo. The design of this ident gives you a different perspective due to the fact that the logo is not seen in everyday life however making this makes it much more realistic to the audience.
BBC One- Hippos(Branding)
Tv idents are used in order to become much more different from other channels this is so that the audience so not feel confused to what channel they are watching .In this ident branding is used in order for the channel to be able to find its target audience. Branding is used so that audience will want to come back for more, this then re-enforces brand loyalty as the audience will be coming back to the channel. The BBC One logo had changed dramatically due to the fact that the "BBC One" will be located on the left side however it got re- branded and it was moved to the middle this is so that the audience understand what channel they are watching. Also the colour of the "BBC One" will normally be in red however they had changed it this was to make it much more softer due to the fact that red can be seen as a seductive colour or it could also mean danger, making this an ambiguous meaning so putting the fishes in red makes sure that people know that the channel is still associated with the colour red.
Channel 5: Time bomb (Information- led/ segmentation within scheduling)
Information led is a key factor in idents, reason being is that the audience is informed what will be shown so this is useful. In this Channel 5 advert information led is being used as the announcer is talking about what will be happening next week. The reason that this is so effective is because the title of the programme "Big Brother ticking Timebomb" this is reflected as the logo is in the design of a timebomb. This is also a marketing opportunity due to the fact that they are show casing big brother.
MTV Hits
This ident is very effective as this is for a music channel, the reason that this is effective is because MTV is a music based channel and mainly plays 'Hip-Hop' and this is the theme of these idents and this is seen as quite urban and most of the background settings are urban places so that it relates to a younger target audience much more. This is a fast/ mellow tempo due to the fact that this may relate to a younger target audience however can also relate to middle aged people.

BBC Three
BBC three re branded the channel, by re branding the channel this will become much more appealing to the target audience. BBC Three used to be on the TV and was owned by the BBC however they are only on the internet meaning that all of their target audience will have to be moved to the internet. This could cause some problems due to the fact that they might loose a percentage of their target audience. The logo used to be blue and the righting was much more bolder text and aggrssive and they had changed it to pink with a softer text meaning that this channel could relate more to the younger audience. The reason that pink is used is so that it stands out much more than the other logos.

http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/Channel_4#1999.E2.80.932004
1999
This is a channel 4 ident that was created in Feb 1999. The logo of the as it is in a circle as previous ones they were in a the ident was by it self or in a square shaped box. From 1999 they had changed the way in which the dents for channel 4 is.
1999
These are idents that were shown in 1999. They created different idents due to the fact the viewer might get bored of the fact that the ident is the same colour and comes up before and after every show which can be boring so by them putting in much more different colours means that they will be more interested.
2001/2002 This is when then started to add much more visuals in the background. However the logo is not consistent due to the fact that there will be much more different colours in the square and instead of being big and bold in the middle it has moved to the right a bit more.
2004
This ident is gives off a much more urban feel due to the fact that it gives of a much more urban and realistic point of view. This also links to tv programmes that are played on this channel. We also see this is a 2015 ident. This is where the ident had started to rebrand its self due to the fact that they are using a realistic route in order to relate to their audience more.
2015
In this 2015 ident this also a way in which it is realistic due to the fact that the have used a real life city and used the city buildings to create the iconic 4.
2016
In 2016 this is when they rebranded them selves again as they are not using modern day things they have started to use rectangles to create the 4. There is also a change of colour this is so that the channel gets rebranded. This channel can be seen as relating to women more due to the fact the colours are pink and purple which is not seen as masculine.

Cutting to the beat
Beat editing
Beat editing is a key when it comes to editing music videos. The reason that this is useful is because people only pay attention to the visuals hence forth beat editing so that the audience becomes interested in the music video, you could also say that beat editing re enforces the track to due the fact that it cuts to the beat. When beat editing you tend to cut to different camera shots/ angles this is so that we are not viewing one long camera shot and also so that people will not be bored of what they are watching.
Before you start editing you must make sure that you mark all of the points where the beats are to ensure that you get all of the beats. When finished with that you then have to start cutting the points where you have marked. You can add different shots so that you will not be looking at one long shot as this will be boring.
Beat editing differs depending on different genres this is as they all take a different approach when i comes to beat editing due to the fact that they have a different aim. In this hip- hop video 'club cant handle me' they use as the target audience that they are aiming this at is much more younger generation with short attention spams so by doing this they will be able to get much more views.
However in rock music videos the fast pace editing is used as this is what will be seen in a live concert due to the fact that they are much more unstable when they are performing live onstage this is reflected in the way that they are portrayed in music videos as the editing is quicker.
Lip Syncing
Lip syncing was used in this music video. This is commonly used in the music videos out today due to the fact that this is to promote the artist. Lip syncing is a convention that is used frequently especially in hip hop or pop music videos this is to re enforce the lyrics due to the fact that people tend not to listen to the song they prefer the visuals.
The first video that I will be evaluating will be my summer music video. One of the techniques that are used is match on action. Match on action is an editing technique that re enforces continuity. This is when one shot cuts to another so that you are not looking at the same one shot. The reason that match on action is used in my music videos is so that people do not become bored of what they are watching and so that they will be intrigued to carry on watching the music video.
Another technique that I had used was cutting to the beat this is useful due to the fact that I had used was making sure that the visuals cut to the beat of the track this is significant so that all of the beats match up with the visuals as this could cause discomfort for the audience as the music will not match up with the visuals which will then make people uncomfortable. Hip- hop and pop music tend to cut to the beat more as the genre of this music is aimed at a younger target and they tend to have a shorter attention spam so by beat editing this will mean that they will pay attention to the music video.
This is the first video that I had to use beat editing. The reason for beat editing is so that people are able to watch a music video without the visuals and the way that it is edited to match with the beat of the song. This music video was not a good due to the fact that in the song there is much more people involved in the music video and
This is the second music video that I beat edited.
In this music video I had used many different shots as a montage technique so that people are able to see different shots. I had used a zoom in and zoom out effect to seem as if it is the speaker worping in and out.
I feel that in the first music video that I had edited there was use of less beat editing due to the fact that I had spent less time editing this. Also due to the fact that I had not fully know how to beat edit properly and this was over the summer which then meant that I could not use the proper equipment to edit it properly. However in the recent music video I had all of the equipment that I needed so that I could beat edit using the proper software.
Another thing about the summer music video was that some parts of the music video was not lip synced to the music itself which can then cause the audience to feel uncomfortable due to the fact that people pay attention to the visuals much more than then lyrics, in my second music video I did not use as much lip syncing due to the fact that there is mainly just the beat, however when I did lip sync it to the music video it had matched up together which then made this music video much more pleasing to watch.
I feel that comparing both of them them that 'Turn down for what' is a much more better edit due to the fact that the editing was much precise and there was alot more shots that I had used and that I had also manipulated to look different such as the way that they are angled. However in the summer music video there was not enough shots for this to be a music video. In this video there visuals did not exactly match up to the music due to the fact that in the music there was a group of people and in this music video there was only two people that were in it which will make this a less realistic music video. Also the lip syncing in the summer music video was different compared to the sound due to the fact that the actor in the music video did not know what they were singing which caused some problems as the audience will be uncomfortable and they mainly pay attention to the music video and this will make them become un- interested. Compared to the 'turn down for what' music video I had edited it so that there was only one use of lip syncing which isn't a lot however it is still effective due to the fact that people will then listen to the lyrics as well and lip syncing is a very important convention due to the fact that it re-enforces you to listen to the lyrics because no one pays attention to the lyrics the prefer the visuals .
