Fade in/ Outs:
This is an example of a fade in and fade out. This is a transition
that was created by George Meliz discovered this by accident as his
camera jammed and objects appeared and dissapeared in the film.
This was used to manipulate time and space.
Cutaways:
Cutaways was a technique used by Edwin S Porter in the film "life of an American".A cutaway is when a a lot cuts from one scene to another. This is called a cutaway, cutaways are usually used when there is a conversation. This type of shot is used in emotional movies/ scenes is to amend the pace. A scene may be improved just by using cutaways, by using different frames. For example when you cut away to the actor that is speaking and then the one that is listening you are able to see the reactions of both of the actors. This makes the audience know that actor number 2 is listening to the first one. This also make the audience feel as if they are interacting in the conversation. Cutaways add meaning to a scene so that people are able to understand the shot more.
Cross Dissolve
Cross dissolves where created by George Melies it was used to show transitions between two shots. Cross dissolves are usually not used in many movies due to stylistic taste.

Unit 1.3 Evaluation Report
Introduction
What are the three main things that you have learned from this experience about the process of managing and organising a film production?
The first thing that I have learned about this experience is that there is a lot of time involved with making a short film. I is very important that everyone runs to the deadline due to the fact if you do not run on time then there could be serious consequences to the production of our short film.We all had to rely on each other, say for instance the director didn't do the location recces or find a location then the producer(me) would not be able to do the shooting schedule or ask for permission for the council. However everyone ran to deadline which meant that everyone was able to do there part. Also when it came to shoot there would be some problems as people may have been busy and would not be able to make the shot so then they we would have to find a day that everyone was free.
The second thing that I have learned is that is that is is a key ingredient is to be very organised. We would have to be much more organised so that it would work and I feel that we were organised in some aspects.
The last thing I have learned that communication is key as well. We had to communicate with the group so that we were able to do the work and so that we know where we all are in the group.
Main body
1. Was your main Shooting Schedule initially detailed and realistic enough to allow you to achieve good quality and complete the recording of all the footage?
For the Production Team GGF Productions I had to make a shooting schedule which has to be realistic as you have to put the time and the what and who will be in that shoot. The shooting schedule has to go to plan and you must follow it as this is how the shoots have to be planned and if you run over this would be a problem. Before I could this I had find out the two locations in which I we were going to shoot which was Southmere Lake and Danson Park. Southmere Lake was our first choose which if we did not get permission to shoot in Southmere Lake then the contingency plan would then be Danson Park. We had shoot our short film in a chronological order so that everything ran to plan. I feel that the shooting schedule was realistic due to the fact it also the storyboard number, props, the costume, what make-up will be need in that shoot, personnel and what equipment will be required.
2.Was your Storyboard detailed and substantial enough to fully cover the 1 minute film?
The storyboard is supposed to be produced by the Director of Photography. At first the storyboard was not as detailed as it was supposed to be and also it did not have much shots to create a short film. However we as a group and me as the producer talked about it which then meant that the DoP had to go and to the storyboard again so that it would be much more detailed. Which it then improved so therefore I feel that the storyboard was detailed and sutibale for a 1 minute short film.
3.Was your Shot List organised correctly in order of how you would set-up these shots to make the most of the time available (i.e. grouping them?)
The shot list had a good amount of information for that was relevant to the script. The shot list is organised in the the correct order so that it would be easy for us to follow it. If the shot list wasn't in the correct order this will make the it much more difficult for us to shot as we will have to figure which goes where. I think that this was organised due to the fact we were able to understand what has to happen in every shot.
4.Were your locations suitably Recce’d to consider background noise, lighting and permissions
When picking our location we considered the background sound which was the swans and other things such as people and their dogs. One thing that we didn't consider was the planes which a few had unfortunately passed us while we were shooting so that meant that we were unable to hear the actors clearly which meant that we were unable to re-shoot due to the fact that we had a tight schedule and we were already running late. But if we were to reshoot that will then mean I will have to ask for permission again.
5.Were your actors rehearsed, organised and the right choice for your characters?
The actor that were in our short film were rehearsed and organised as they were punctual. This was a good that they had come on time and they already knew what they were doing if they did not show up we would have to find other actors to act in our short film.
6.Did everyone in your crew know their roles and take responsibility for them?
We were all in charge of something different and I feel that we are did our roles properly.
Director- Jordan was in charge of:
Production Manager- I was in charge of:
Production Assistant- Eunice was in charge of:
Director of Photography- Calvin was in charge of:
I feel that everyone had done there jobs properly. There may have been a few issues that we had faced but we had solved it quickly so that we were able to conduct a good short film.
7.Was the equipment checked, charged and working properly before you set up your shoot?
We booked all of the equipment which was the tripod, dslr camera, memory camera and the artificial lights. Fortunately for us we got all of the equipment for the days that we needed it. This was all checked before we had used them and if they didn't work we would have to give it back to Mr. French to change them. If they had stopped working then we will have to think of another way to film such as a phone.
8.Were your Call Sheets effective in that all resources and people turned up on time?
I feel that the call sheet was effective due to the fact that the times were all real time and we ran to schedule. This was good because if we didn't run to schedule and people showed up late for the shot there will be complications when it comes to filming but people had showed up as we all left the college together and we were able to film .
Conclusion
I have learned from this experience that you are working in a team, and in a team that means that you don't only have a responsibility for yourself that you are also responsible for the whole group and if one person lets the group down then the work will not be at a good standard. I have also learnt that as a group that you must have good communication skills due to the fact that people may have to do a piece of work that you cant complete without them doing it. I have also learned that it is key to hand things in on time because if you don't then you will let down the group and you will not be able to redo it to the best of your abilities which means that there will be less time to re shot.
For the Production Team GGF Productions I had to make a shooting schedule which has to be realistic as you have to put the time and the what and who will be in that shoot.

- Script
- Personnel required
Production Manager- I was in charge of:
- Location Reeces
- Permission
- Shooting Schedule
Production Assistant- Eunice was in charge of:
- Equipment Booking
- Health and Safety Risk
- Prop/ Costume/ make up list
Director of Photography- Calvin was in charge of:
- Storyboard
- Shot List
- Lighting test shots
