Meghan Trainor

Brief History 

Meghan Elizabeth Trainor was born on December 22, 1933 on the small island of Nantucket. She comes from a musical background. She is not only a singer she is also a musician as she can play the guitar and piano. She even learnt to play a view notes on the trumpet. Her influences are a wide range of different musicians such as Bruno Mars, T-Pain and Rihanna.

Her Image

Meghan Trainor is not something people will associate as a typical artist as she is 'curvy'. Most celebrity are 'Slim' with flat stomachs. However Trainor makes us re think about the thinks that we classify as normal. She had released 'All about that Bass' which is based on the way that people view her as a 'plus size singer' and that she doesn't really care about the fact that people will not see her as they will view an artist like Rihanna she is more focused on the music that she produces. This is also a choreography which is one of the conventions of a music video, due to the fact choreography has been used in music videos in previous years so this means that this would be nothing new to the artist.We could also say that she is trying to promote herself as an artist, she can also be seen as an artist to who is trying to separate herself from other artists. She can also be seen quiet childish due to the fact that she has pink highlights in her hair this could imply the fact that her target audience is a much youunger generation.          



In 2015 her image started to change and she started to become much more provocative with what she was wearing. She had changed for being sweet and and child like to becoming a woman. In this song Dear Future Husband she is seen rolling on the floor all soapy which can be seen as very confrontational. The faze from becoming a child like artist to the transformatrion to being grown. In this music video there are conventions being used such as a base track and choreography.





In this video she has transitioned again but not in the way that today would expect her to change as this era is more about how women are sexulised. However she is more conservative and she is not showing anything that will be seen as sexually pleasing to people. This breaks conventions due to the fact that through the duration of the music video it was telling a story, making this a short film. This is a narrative story explaining the hardship of her life with family members with drinking problems who end up getting in trouble.   




 Conclusion
Meghan has gone through many different image changes so far through her career from being someone that is portrayed as innocent, to becoming a woman who is able to express herself but not a provocative as her fellow peer artists such as Miley Cyrus who went playing with a  guitar to swining on a wrecking ball nude. When Meghan Trainor started to become more comfortable in her skin in 2015 people started to idolise her for the things that she would wear and for the ' bigger sized women' this made them feel even closer to her due to the fact the modern era would rather have what they classify as 'normal'.
